TOX AWAY DAYS
Tox-Away Days are collection events hosted by the Hendricks County Recycling District where Hendricks County households can properly dispose of medications and medical sharps, as well as other items such as; chemicals, fluids, bulbs, batteries, tanks, tires, electronics, appliances, and more. The Hendricks County Health Department offers free Sharps containers at Tox Away Days as well. There are 5 Tox Away Days each year hosted in Danville, Plainfield, Brownsburg, and Avon.

HENDRICKS COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT SAFE SHARPS DISPOSAL
Medical sharps such as syringes, lancets and needles pose environmental and health hazards if not disposed of properly. Hendricks County residents can obtain free sharps containers that once full, can be exchanged for a new, empty container. The sharps collected through the program will be managed and destroyed in a safe manner through a medical waste contractor. Hendricks County Health Department Naloxbox
In collaboration with Overdose Lifeline, the Hendricks County Health Department has 3 locations in which Narcan were made publically available 24/7 through storage boxes called Naloxboxes. Naloxboxes are a hard acrylic box mounted to the exterior wall of a building that provides 24/7 access to readily-accessible doses of nasal-spray naloxone—an effective opioid reversal medication, steps on how to administer the medication, and local referrals for substance use treatment. The use of the Naloxboxes will be completely confidential and free to access. All Naloxboxes are regularly restocked to provide Naloxone to all who need it.
