Cognitive behavioral therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.
Couples Therapy
Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.
Family Therapy
Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.
Group Therapy
Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members
Individual Therapy
In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.
Rational Behavior Therapy
Rational Behavior Therapy (RBT) is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy meant to be short-term and comprehensive. It was intended to help clients become more self-sufficent and move forward without the need for expensive, ongoing therapy. It includes an emotional self-help method called “rational self-counseling,” the purpose of which is to give clients all the skills needed to handle future emotional issues by themselves, or with significantly less professional help.
Trauma Therapy
Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

outpatient addiction medicine
The Addiction Medicine Clinic at Community Fairbanks Recovery Center works with patients to prescribe medications that are evidence-based to treat the symptoms of substance use disorders. These medications reduce symptoms of cravings and withdrawal and reduce illicit substance use. Frequently prescribed medications include buprenorphine and naltrexone. Common names for these medications include Suboxone, Sublocade, Brixadi and Vivitrol. We also offer long-acting injectable forms of medications, where patients are seen at either weekly or monthly intervals to receive a shot.
If you are unsure about trying medication as part of your treatment plan, we are happy to discuss options with you and address questions or concerns. We want to work together with you on your recovery journey. A clinic appointment can give you the power of knowledge regarding options available to you for treatment.
level 1 therapy
Level 1 outpatient therapy groups meet one hour weekly for 12 weeks (about 3 months). Frequency and duration may be adjusted to meet individual needs. The group’s focus is substance use disorder treatment and associated issues that cause moderate impairment in the individual’s life. Treatment goals will address lifestyle, attitudinal and behavioral issues that are interfering with functioning or recovery. This program is based on the Patient Placement Criteria for the treatment of substance disorders by the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
Group therapy treatment programs are available for adults and adolescents.
intensive outpatient
Requiring group therapy several days or evenings per week, the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides flexibility and structure to patients. Education is offered to individuals and their families through special weekly family programming. Individuals are expected to participate in an outside support group, and special groups are available for chronic relapse patients.
partial hospitalization
For medically stable individuals who live in a supportive environment and have access to reliable transportation, the partial hospitalization program (PHP) is comparable to inpatient care, but allows a patient to return home nightly. The individual goes through intense treatment during the day, and involvement in outside support groups is emphasized.
women's trauma program
This programming addresses the specific needs of women suffering from co-occurring trauma and substance-use disorder. Evidence-based best practices include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Seeking Safety and yoga.

Recovery Management
On the road of recovery, what someone does after finishing treatment is just as important as getting professional help in the first place. And when it comes to substance use disorders, people who stay connected to their recovery community have a better chance of remaining on the path of recovery.
As part of our continuum of care, we offer recovery management programs that help ease the transition out of treatment and into everyday life. These programs help individuals and their families as they develop and enhance their recovery life skills, easing the transition back to work, school and the community.
Through these programs, individuals will learn how to use the tools acquired in treatment while receiving help from a recovery coach. In the transition from treatment to recovery, recovery coaches are vital in keeping individuals on the path to lifelong recovery. A person will meet with his or her coach in weekly groups that introduce stress management, recovery maintenance and ideas to develop a balanced life without drugs or alcohol.
If you or a loved one are seeking treatment, call 800-225-HOPE 24 hours a day, seven days a week with same-day appointments available.

Quit Now Indiana can help you.
Quit Now Indiana offers the following free tobacco cessation services:
COACHES AND SESSIONS
QNI provides non-judgmental coaching and training to help people quit tobacco. Coaches work with individuals to create personalized quit plans that include five scheduled counseling sessions and group support sessions. Registered Hoosiers can reach out to QNI anytime, as often as they want, through phone, text, or online chat.
TEXT2QUIT
Text2Quit QNI’s texting tool is a convenient and clinically proven way to help people manage their quit journey. Personalized text messages keep individuals in touch with a Coach, help them cope with their cravings, and remind them to take their medication at the right times to avoid relapses. This includes interactive dialogues, instant content using keywords, and access to live coaches.
MEDICATION
Access to Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) products (patches, gum, lozenge) for eligible members while supplies last. Coaches help guide members in selecting the best NRT for their quit journey. NRT can help relieve some of the physical withdrawal symptoms, so members can focus on the psychological (emotional) aspects of quitting.
QUIT GUIDE
Registered individuals get support materials to help them through each stage of their personalized Quit Plan. These materials also help family and friends to support and motivate those who are quitting to stick with the plan.
ONLINE DASHBOARD
This feature helps you manage your quit journey with features and milestones such as ordering NRT. You can use a multi-media action card system, on-demand learning trackers, mini-survey assessments, and quizzes. You can also connect with a coach via online chat or schedule coaching sessions. The dashboard helps you stay on track with a clear step-by-step path to becoming and staying tobacco-free.
