A loved one’s decline in health always presents challenges, and sometimes it creates demands that families do not feel prepared to handle. That’s where The Gathering Together comes in. We provide care, nurturing and support for end-of-life guests and their families, bringing peace and assistance throughout a turbulent period. Our services come free of charge. We also host numerous community involvement activities, including craft workshops, classes, gardening and support and bereavement groups.

For residents of Hendricks County, Guardian Angel Hospice provides medications, equipment and supplies related to terminal illness. We offer our trademarked Angel Touch therapeutic touch with high grade essential oils and lotion for comfort at the end of life, as well as emotional, spiritual, and personal support for patients, caregivers, and other members of the family. Grief and bereavement support is available for family members to find comfort during and after their loved one’s final journey.
Payment for hospice services is covered 100% by Medicare and frequently covered by private insurance. With generous donations from the community, we are also able to provide services to those who are not eligible for Medicare. No one will be denied care because of an inability to pay.

Hendricks County Senior Services provides personal care services, transportation, and information and referral for health care and insurance, and maintains a limited medical equipment loaning closet for Hendricks County older adults and their caregivers. HCSS operates a vibrant senior center in Danville where guests enjoy a daily lunch, fitness classes, library, social and recreational activities, arts/crafts, and a senior-friendly food pantry.

This class will focus on awareness, breath, movement and strength. The class is taught by a certified senior yoga instructor with Peace Through Yoga. Vehicles can accommodate wheelchairs, portable oxygen, attendants, and service animals. Assistance boarding and unloading is provided. Appointments are required. The service is a partnership of Hendricks County Senior Services and Sycamore Services.

Since 1945, Little Red Door Cancer Agency strive to reduce the physical, emotional, and financial burdens of cancer for the medically underserved residents of central Indiana by providing free client services, screenings, and education. Programs include but are not limited to transportation to treatment, nutritional supplements, wigs, lymphedema garments, ostomy supplies, Door to Wellness, and incontinence supplies.
Project Lifesaver Hendricks County
Project Lifesaver is a proactive response to identify those individuals within the community who have a tendency to wander away from their caretakers. This program consists of a small radio transmitter that the client wears on their wrist or ankle. Each transmitter has a frequency that is unique to the client. They can then be tracked by receiving equipment that highly trained emergency responders use.

Senior Helpers Indianapolis is the premier provider of in-home senior care. We offer tailored home care services ranging from companion care for seniors who need daily assistance to in-depth specialized care for those with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Parkinson’s and other chronic diseases.
Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP)
SCSEP is a community service and work-based job training program for older Americans. Authorized by the Older Americans Act, the program provides training for low-income, unemployed seniors. SCSEP participants gain work experience in a variety of community service activities at non-profit and public facilities, including schools, hospitals, day-care centers, and senior centers. The program provides over 40 million community service hours to public and non-profit agencies, allowing them to enhance and provide needed services. Participants train an average of 20 hours a week, and are paid the highest of federal, state or local minimum wage ($7.25). This training serves as a bridge to unsubsidized employment opportunities for participants. Participants must be at least 55, unemployed, and have a family income of no more than 125% of the federal poverty level. Enrollment priority is given to veterans and qualified spouses, then to individuals who are over 65, have a disability, have low literacy skills or limited English proficiency, reside in a rural area, are homeless or at risk of homelessness, have low employment prospects, or have failed to find employment after using services through the American Job Center system.
