Central Indiana First Steps Program
First Steps is a family centered early intervention program for infants and toddlers from birth to age three who may not be doing what they should for their age or have a medical condition that would likely lead to developmental delays. To support families in their natural care giving roles, First Steps brings families together with health, education, and social service professionals to address the developmental needs of the children that are determined to be in need of therapy services. These voluntary services are typically offered in the family's home or other natural environment.

Community Partners provides in home assistance to families to help them discover and connect with available supports and services. A local community liaison is assigned to each family and works with them to develop and achieve their goals. Goals are decided by the family and can relate to any need including housing, employment, education, food, transportation, utilities, budgeting, parenting information, medical issues. All services are completely free and voluntary, no insurance or Medicaid is required and all families with children are eligible.

Topics include: sleep, isolation, self-care, self-image, post-partum depression & anxiety, mom & baby wellness, balancing baby needs with family needs, and balancing work/home responsibilities. This group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at Hendricks County Senior Center from 2 to 3:30pm. Senior Center volunteers will be available to provide child care. Strides specializes in equine assisted learning and therapy. Clients that are not comfortable with traditional talk therapy might find that the welcoming environment of the farm and the addition of specially trained horses provide a more productive and calming atmosphere to uncover answers. We believe that everyone has their own solutions within. The horses and the highly trained professionals serve as guides to help you find new patterns of behaviors and help clients to find their own personal strengths and gifts. Strides also offers traditional talk therapy through a collaboration with four therapist that specialize in pre and post adoption, TBRI, trauma, abuse, grief and loss depression, ADHD, anxiety, military/veterans.
