Pregnancy Choices Indy
Description
PREGNANCY TESTS The test we offer is to determine pregnancy hormone levels sufficient to indicate pregnancy. The test is a medical grade test and is 99% accurate 25 days after the first day of your last period. The test may be positive as early as 7-9 days after conception. It is helpful if you know the start date of your last period when you come in. ULTRASOUND Pregnancy Choices Indy offers a limited obstetrical ultrasound to confirm that the pregnancy is located within the uterus, to detect a heartbeat, and to determine gestational age (or how many weeks pregnant you are). Our ultrasound exams are provided free of charge to our clients and are confidential. Our clients may schedule an ultrasound, when medically appropriate, after a positive pregnancy test at one of our centers. We do not use ultrasound to determine sex. Some restrictions apply. REFERRALS Pregnancy Choices Indy has many partners in the community and we can give you referrals for medical, housing, and social services. VERIFICATION OF PREGNANCY Pregnancy Choices Indy can provide you with a pregnancy verification form at any of our seven centers, free of charge, if your pregnancy test is positive. Pregnancy verification is required to apply for Medicaid and other state health insurance programs. Parenting You may have more questions than answers about parenting or maybe the thought of becoming a parent seems impossible to you at this time. We’ve talked to hundreds of clients who are concerned about things like this:
BABY BUNDLES A Baby Bundle is provided as a gift to our clients for their newborn baby. A bundle contains diapers, wipes, baby clothes, a blanket, a bottle and many other items a new baby will need. An expectant mom comes to one of our centers to pick up a bundle when she is 8 months pregnant. Please call the center nearest you for more information and to schedule an appointment to pick up your baby bundle. |

Community Partners for Child Safety (CPCS) program designed to prevent abuse and neglect that connects at-risk families with community resources. Case workers conduct weekly in-home visits to help parents identify and meet specific goals to stabilize families and alleviate stress that may put kids at risk. Goals range from finding safe, affordable housing to seeking employment or addressing addictions or mental health concerns. Father Engagement This program identifies fathers and calls on them to reengage in their children’s lives and, in many cases, assume custodial care for them. Children’s Bureau case managers provide ongoing mentorship to dads who typically did not experience safety and stability during their childhoods. Eliminating the stress associated with “doing it on your own” offers these fathers the confidence to meet primary goals and establish permanence for their children. Home-based Services Case management and/or therapy are required when abuse, neglect or juvenile delinquency has occurred. These child-centered services, which occur primarily within the home, focus on educating and empowering all family members to prevent family disruption or to achieve reunification. Instruction ranges from positive discipline and stress management to basic child care and family communication. |
