FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Area IV Agency - Energy Assistance Program
Heating and electric bills can be difficult to pay. For moderate to low income households, apply to see if Area IV can help. Benefit amounts vary based on application details. ​Staff present in office Monday through Friday each week from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Burial Assistance Program
The Burial Assistance Program was established by the state of Indiana to assist with burial costs for those who are eligible in specific categories of Medicaid. Who is the program for? Burial assistance is available to those that were Medicaid recipients for the aged, blind and disabled at the time of their death or had applied for benefits prior to death and are later found categorically eligible for burial assistance.

Hendricks County Division of Family Resources
Assists in applying for benefits such as; Medicaid/Hoosier Healthwise, TANF, Child Welfare, Food Stamps. Income guidelines are applied by a case-by-case basis. Also offers TANF program. Temporary Assistance for Needy Families is a program that provides cash assistance and services to assist families with children under age 18. The underlying goal of the TANF program is to help recipient families achieve or return to economic self-sufficiency.

​SNAP
​The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, previously known as “food stamps,” provides food assistance to low-income individuals. It is a federal aid program administered by the Food and Nutrition Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture; however, benefits are distributed at the state level. SNAP helps low-income individuals and families buy the food they need for good health. Interested parties apply for benefits by completing a state application form online, in-person or via mail. Benefits are provided on an electronic card that is used like a debit card and accepted at most grocery stores

​This information applies to all trustees. * Trustees may be able to assist persons in need with needs such as: *food *rent/mortgage *medical care/insulin *utilities *household goods *fuel oil/propane/coal *clothing *burial expenses *work transportation Assistance is at the discretion of the trustee. Denials of assistance can be appealed to the County Commissioner; information on appealing is included in the denial letter.
