  • The Hendricks County Pro Bono Program, Inc. 
    ​Serves no-income and low-income persons. Applicants whose income is below 125% of the federal poverty guidelines are eligible for placement in the free legal services program.  Applicants whose income is between 125% and 200% of the federal poverty guidelines are eligible for placement in the modest means legal services program which offers legal services at a reduced hourly rate.

Indiana Legal Services
The largest provider of free civil legal assistance to eligible low-income people throughout Indiana, can often help with legal problems related to housing issues. To see if they can help you, call 844-243-8570 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. You can also fill out an online request for assistance below.

The Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic
Provides free legal services statewide to those who can’t afford them. Their 
team can assist with evictions, security deposits, repairs, accessibility issues, debt collection, and more.

  • Tenant Advocacy Project (TAP)
    This program provides attorneys and tenant navigators in eight out of nine township small claims courts. The Clinic collaborates with the Mayor’s Office of Public Health and Safety, Indiana Legal Services, and Indianapolis Legal Aid Society to provide TAP information and free legal services. Our Housing team is accepting walk-in clients—free of charge—on a first-come, first-served basis at the Washington Township Small Claims Court and Decatur Small Claims Court.

The Indianapolis Legal Aid Society
Specializes in resolving civil legal matters in cases involving the rights of children, mothers, families, persons with a physical and/or mental disability, and the elderly. In some cases, they help with landlord-tenant disputes.

Tenant Landlord Coalition (no website)
This group of volunteers provides free advise to tenants and landlord's regarding housing disputes and issues. They do not have an attorney, and cannot take legal action, but provide resources, information, and suggestions. They can be contacted at: 317-722-6096

Has several resources available for renters; including dispute forms, tenant rights and laws, landlord obligations, legal assistance and more. Tenants may also file reports for housing discrimination on this website.
