Provides pro-bono services to low-income persons in Hendricks County. Does not accept cases concerning bankruptcy, criminal matters, personal injury, small claims, traffic or driver’s licenses. Legal advice will not be given over the phone or at enrollment screening.

Provides victims and witnesses of violent crime in Hendricks County with emotional support, case status information, referrals to other agencies, information about crime compensation, and guidance through the criminal justice system. Advocates are available to assist with filing a protective order. Files, modifies, and enforces court-ordered child support cases in Hendricks County. This office can also help in establishing paternity for children born out of wedlock and in locating absent parents who owe child support. Represents the state of Indiana in all felony and misdemeanor criminal prosecutions resulting from crimes committed in Hendricks County. The prosecutor’s office also conducts criminal investigations, supervises Grand Jury proceedings, enforces child support orders, conducts juvenile adjudication and prosecution, enforces traffic violations, and provides information and assistance to victims of crime.

Maintains records of all county-level court cases in Hendricks County. The clerk’s office issues marriage licenses and passports; files protective orders and divorce petitions; collects fees for child support, traffic tickets, adoptions, foreclosures, court costs, and other judgments; and oversees and conducts all elections. Certified copies of marriage certificates issued in Hendricks County and child support payment histories are available for a fee.

Serves as a city court for city ordinance and traffic violation in the town of Avon in Hendricks County.

Indiana State Court - Hendricks County

Hears both criminal and civil trials including juvenile matters (paternity, children in need of services [CHINS], and juvenile delinquency cases) in Hendricks County. Handles civil lawsuits for $6,000 or less, including contracts, collection of rent, evictions, and personal loans. Only corporations are required to be represented by an attorney and only on claims over $1,500. In Hendricks County, the Superior Courts maintain dockets to handle small claims cases.
